Dear 3dem Readers,

We are thrilled to announce the Fall 2024 Tomography and Cryo-FIB Workshop hosted by the Midwest Center for Cryo-Electron Tomography (MCCET) at UW-Madison. The workshop will be held from September 23-27, 2024. In addition to our MCCET team, we have an exciting group of external speakers that includes:

Claudia

(TFS)
(TFS)
(UT-Austin)
*Other speakers to be confirmed.

Training topics will include:

  * Introduction to cryo-ET including the basic principles of dose tolerance, illumination, and tilt series collection parameters.
  * Training in data acquisition workflows that include screening, data collection, and flexible scripting.
  * Training in basic data processing including pre-processing, tomogram generation, and considerations for segmentation and sub-tomogram averaging.
  * Instruction in 2D/3D correlative imaging workflows using the Leica widefield and cryo-confocal microscopes, and the integrated fluorescence microscope in the Aquilos 2.
  * Guidance in FIB-milling with AutoTEM and advanced FIB workflows such as waffle milling and lift-out methods.

The morning theory sessions of the workshop will be hybrid and the afternoon practical sessions will be in-person only.
