A Postdoctoral Fellow position in Biochemistry/Biophysics and Cryo-Electron Microscopy is available in the laboratory of Dr Sebastian Guettler at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London, UK.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will analyse the function of poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase (PARP) enzymes by using a combination of biochemical, biophysical and structural biology approaches. The emphasis will be on the structural characterisation of proteins/protein complexes by single-particle cryo-EM and associated biochemical/biophysical studies.

Work in the Guettler laboratory centres on the elucidation of signal transduction mechanisms relevant to the function of cancer cells, in particular the Wnt/beta-catenin network and telomere homeostasis and their control by poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation. The Division of Structural Biology has managed facilities for protein production (with expertise in multi-subunit protein complex expression), protein crystallography, cryo-EM and biophysics. Regular access to Titan Krios instruments at the Electron Bio-Imaging Centre (eBIC) at Diamond Light Source is available through a Block Allocation Group. Moreover, The Institute of Cancer Research is part of the London Consortium for Cryo-Electron Microscopy, hosting a Titan Krios instrument based at the Francis Crick Institute (available in early 2019). The Division of Structural Biology is located at ICR’s Chelsea site in central London.
