The 2026 EU-FIB.net<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://eu-fib.net/__;!!Mih3wA!C3NErkHZGKeMSldmLUkskZx5AMc5Gs37np728Bp6ll5lwQJ8upYz8p4YczSSHiaLK5l0x-J2HvUu25MhxSZA$ > Workshop will take place 8–11 September 2026 in beautiful Marseille, hosted at the Palais du Pharo of Université Aix Marseille.
The local organizing committee consists of:
Evelyne Salançon, Anne Delobbe, and Marine Laureniche. As always, they will be supported by the EU-FIB.net steering committee<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.eu-fib.net/steering-committee/__;!!Mih3wA!C3NErkHZGKeMSldmLUkskZx5AMc5Gs37np728Bp6ll5lwQJ8upYz8p4YczSSHiaLK5l0x-J2HvUu2zRdUgei$ >.
This workshop will feature a comprehensive scientific program, including invited, contributed, and vendor talks, tutorials, a poster session, and opportunities for lab visits.
Scientific Themes
The 2026 workshop will cover a broad range of topics from fundamentals to cutting-edge applications, with special emphasis on classical sample preparation (TEM and APT) and on multimodal characterization techniques in 2D and 3D. The program will include:
* New instrumentation and hardware for advanced ion-beam technologies
* Theoretical background and simulation of atomic processes in ion–solid interactions
* Applications of FIB to materials sciences, including semiconductors, quantum-technology-relevant materials, and emerging device architectures
* FIB for structural and functional materials, including nuclear applications and micromechanics
* Applications of FIBs in health and biological challenges
* FIB-based SIMS and other analytical approaches using ion beams
* FIB-based lithography and additive manufacturing, including ion-beam deposition and resist patterning
* Automation and machine learning for advanced FIB applications, control, and data analysis
* New methods for TEM and APT sample preparation, with strong focus on reproducibility and damage reduction
* Serial sectioning and 3D volume tomography using FIB techniques
* Laser-assisted FIB milling for enhanced speed, precision, and material selectivity
Details on registration, abstract submission, and practical arrangements can be found on the workshop homepage<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://eufib2026.sciencesconf.org/__;!!Mih3wA!C3NErkHZGKeMSldmLUkskZx5AMc5Gs37np728Bp6ll5lwQJ8upYz8p4YczSSHiaLK5l0x-J2HvUu2_Lviyi8$ >.
We look forward to welcoming the EU-FIB community to Marseille in 2026 for an exciting and inspiring event.
