Dear Ulrich, Roman, Joel,
Thanks for your suggestion. I still do not know if our problem is due to the misadjustment.
It happens sometimes and does not at the other time. It happened both for commercial
and handmade grids (I have not tried further carbon coating). But, we are happy if FEI
engineers take a look at our problem for us (so, please either let them know about that
or have a look by yourself, Joel).
Best wishes,
Takashi

Takashi,
I'm the Vitrobot product engineer in North America. Reading your post it would seem that you have a problem with your blot assembly not closing properly. I have seen this in America at a few sites and we have identified this as an adjustment that needs to be done. There is a grub screw at the back of the assembly that will become loose after six months usually. Can your local service engineer make a call to the lab to investigate the issue? If this is not possible I will be in Europe next week and could possibly come to the lab.
