Seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to investigate mitochondrial structural and functional disturbances in dopaminergic neurons and organoids derived from patients with bipolar disorder. Specific details of the position will include:

  * Investigate how mitochondrial function contributes to dopamine production and release in neurons and organoids derived from patients with bipolar disorder and unaffected individuals.
  * Development of in situ cryo-ET and live-cell imaging approaches to identify the effects of bipolar disorder on mitochondrial structure and dynamics in dopamine neurons.
  * Participate in the development and analysis of novel imaging methodologies to follow mRNA and protein localization in response to cell activity in neurons.
  * Development and writing of one or more annual publications arising from the above research, as well as abstracts to be presented at national and/or international meetings.
  * Present progress on your work on a regular basis in laboratory and departmental meetings.
  * Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students as well as a Research Associate who collectively will assist with the research within the laboratory.
