Hi Roman,

The first thing I thought of is viral mini-genomes like the RNA in your MS2 paper.
I have seen viruses stripped off their capsids like that before - clustered RNA has high contrast, in particular at 200 kV or lower.

You could run a gel and stain for nucleic acid, but I guess you already know more... ;-)

I would like to have you expert opinion on what the structures in the attached image might be. The structures are quite dense in my opinion. I have my ideas but I am not at all sure. I hope any of you have seen similar structures.
