[3dem] failed RAID/SSD on K3 server

thanks to everyone with the help/suggestions…here’s a quick summary for other users who haven’t encountered this yet (but you probably will at some point if you have K3 system):

-installing the MegaRAID tool (link shown below in Thomas’ email) got us back up and running. i think i’m now down 1 SSD, but we can live with that while waiting for a replacement. i got some IT help and i was told we lost the virtual drive configuration. we re-configured this (to RAID0) with MegaRAID, then enabled the drive in the windows disk management tool, and we are back in business…

2 other suggestions that i may try to see if it recovers the missing SSD:

-press L during K3 computer startup.

-or, during boot, when prompted, we could press 'F' to import foreign configuration. This recovered the raid configuration.

again, thanks all.
cheers,
Garry

You can install the MegaRAID storage manager (available from the manufacturer herehttps://www.supermicro.com/wdl/driver/SAS/LSI/Tools/MegaRAID_Storage_Manager/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.supermicro.com_wdl_driver_SAS_LSI_Tools_MegaRAID-5FStorage-5FManager_&d=DwMF-g&c=-35OiAkTchMrZOngvJPOeA&r=L7-zyQ-04fFCMRqzLIOnx7H0exGZHwIQe_wMPuY600I&m=aZE7e7cwa66Fd05l__oUa5KZ505VynKnL0nglz-MQtI&s=zD0gX0Vcj7NervgFhykk4fQ2HJ2dJBRnJR20ByFwi_8&e=>) and diagnose it through the GUI or use the native raid tools in the boot menu.

We found that both of our K3 servers occasionally would eject a disk from the RAID0 array because it lost connection briefly (which results in it being marked as Unconfigured Bad in the manager and no longer presenting the array to Windows as a valid drive). If the drive hasn't actually failed and was only momentarily lost then data on it may be recoverable, but you only get one chance to fix it correctly.

Subject: [3dem] failed RAID/SSD on K3 server

Hello all,
it appears the X: RAID is no longer functioning (or visible) on my K3 server. i’m not much of a windows or computer guy; does anyone have advice on how to figure out which of the SSD’s have failed?
thanks
Garry
