[3dem] Assistant Professor position in Cryo EM at the Karolinska Institutet

The Dept. of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics department at the Karolinska Institute (KI) invites applications from outstanding candidates for starting a new independent lab. We are looking for a creative person with an excellent track record to join us as an independent assistant professor with up to 6 years funding and a considerable start-up package. We are interested in individuals that are highly motivated and that aim to establish world-leading research labs with a clear technological focus on CryoEM incorporating biological/medical research questions.

KI has recently taken a strategic decision to invest in new microscopes and a new facility with new instruments has just been set up, including a Krios G3i microscope with Bioquantum K3 and an Aquilos2 FIB-SEM with cryo-liftout and accompanying Leica SP8 cryo-confocal. A successful applicant will thus have easy access to state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a possibility to influence the direction of the new facility.

We are looking for applicants with a strong post-doc background including a publication track record that supports the scientific excellence of the candidate. Due to the regulations of assistant professor positions in Sweden, candidates should have obtained their PhD no more than five years before the end of the application period.

Note: This position is part of a general call for assistant professor candidates for the Karolinska Institutet, and candidates will have to compete for one of the eight positions announced. However, a successful candidate with a cryo EM expertise will be able to secure an extra, significant start-up  in excess to what is described in the general announcement.
