Postdoctoral positions are available in the Wan lab (https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.wan-lab.org/__;!!Mih3wA!UgTAMgI-Z8rByXSkKdkd3p24ki0c9uyxYvV5jg0ZHAKzg_aUkB8r7fo9iDRQXylNTQ$ ) at Vanderbilt University. We study the structure and pathology of negative-sense RNA viruses using cryo-electron tomography and subtomogram averaging. A wide range of projects are available that will include opportunities to perform high-resolution subtomogram averaging, in situ structural biology, and the development of hardware and software methods.
The Wan lab is in the Department of Biochemistry and a member of Vanderbilt's Center for Structural Biology (CSB). The CSB provides access to a wide range of structural biology resources including a Thermo Fisher F20, a Polara, and a Titan Krios G4 with Quantum K3 detector for cryo-TEM imaging and a Thermo Fisher Helios with Quorum cryo-system for cryo-FIB SEM, with plans to obtain a cryo-correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) system. In addition, Vanderbilt has a wide range of shared facilities including live-cell imaging, mass-spectrometry, and high-performance computing. Vanderbilt University is located in Nashville, TN and has been ranked as one of the nation's the top 20 universities in US News and World Report and one of the top 100 employers by Forbes.
