Postdoctoral Position at The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota

We are looking for highly motivated candidates to join the lab of Dr. Anna Sundborger-Lunna in the Cryo-EM and Molecular Biology Section at the University of Minnesota Hormel Institute. The goal of the Sundborger-Lunna lab is to elucidate how intracellular membrane trafficking and remodeling processes, such as apoptosis and mitophagy are controlled and how dysregulation of these pathways leads to cancer and neurodegenerative disease. The main focus is structural determination of macromolecular complexes using cryo-EM and helical/single particle 3D reconstruction. The new state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility at the Hormel Institute is equipped with a 300kV Titan Krios with phase plates and a direct electron detector.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required along with extensive experience in protein expression and purification, cryo-EM (preferably operating a Titan Krios electron microscope) and image processing. The candidate must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a team of scientist from different backgrounds.
