[3dem] about Cryo-FIB vibration guideline

Dear Chi-yu,

We have a Helios 650 NanoLab and for about the past half-year there has been regular construction about 10+ yards away - we are constructing a new building extension onto SEMC for NCCAT<http://nccat.nysbc.org/>. Jackhammering has been a constant for several months. The Helios sits on the ground floor and is not vibrationally isolated in any way, yet we have not noticed any vibration on the stage during either cryo-FIB-milling (down to 100-250 nm) or slice and view of room temperature fixed/stained samples.

Hope this information helps!

Best,

-Alex

Subject: [3dem] about Cryo-FIB vibration guideline

Dear 3DEM community,
We plan to set up Cryo-FIB application in Academia Sinica. FEI/Thermo has quite a stringent vibration guideline for Aquilos (VC-E to VC-G). We wonder what the setup of other Cryo-FIB sites is and what the possible consequences are if we fail to meet the requirement. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Best
Chi-yu
