Hello 3DEM community
As many of you know, at the 2017 GRC meeting, the 3DEM community elected to have a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) for students and postdocs directly preceding the 3DEM GRC. The first GRS will be in 2019 in Hong Kong.
GRC/GRS rules dictate that the election for a chairman must be done at minimum 2 years before the meeting. Therefore, the very first GRS election will be done at the 2019 GRS meeting for the 2021 GRS chair.
There remain the appointments of the chair for the first two GRS meetings in 2019 and 2020, for which the rules dictate that the GRC chairman for that same year selects the GRS chair.
In late August of 2017, GRC requested Hongwei Wang, the chair of 2019 GRC, to submit the application form for 2019 GRS together with a designated chair by September 10 of 2017. Because time was very limited before the application submission deadline, Hongwei Wang decided to select Dr. Junjie Liu, currently a postdoctoral fellow at Lawerence Berkeley National Laboratory, to serve as the chairman of 2019 GRS.
Sharon Wolf, the GRC chairman for 2020, would like to invite students and postdocs who are interested in being the 2020 GRS chair to submit their CV for consideration. Please include in the CV any experience you’ve had in organizing meetings, and also the names and contact information for 2 people who can recommend you.
The deadline for submitting your CV to Sharon is 1-July-2018.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sharon
