A tenure-track research lectureship has been created in the general area
of macromolecular structure, with a particular focus on the linkup
between neutron scattering approaches and state-of-the-art atomic
resolution cryo-electron microscopy.
The post will be funded jointly by Keele University and the Institut
Laue-Langevin (ILL), and will be located in Grenoble.
The appointee will form an integral part the of cryo-EM team that will
support the operation of a newly installed Titan Krios microscope that
is located at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). The
cryo-EM team is led by the ESRF and also includes scientists from the
European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the French Institute of
Structural Biology (IBS). The current position will constitute the ILL
component of this team.
The post-holder will, in addition to playing a key role in supporting
the user programme of the microscope, have a major focus on exploiting
the synergy between neutron scattering and cryo-EM, particularly for the
study of large biological complexes.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching
in the Life Sciences as well as carry out forefront research.
