On behalf of the Knight Cancer Institute and the Center for Spatial Systems
Biomedicine at the Oregon Health and Science University

We seek to recruit a faculty member to develop an independent research
program aimed at elucidation of the structure and function of cancer
related proteins and protein complexes using single particle cryoEM, cryoEM
tomography, multicolor super resolution fluorescence microscopy and/or
correlative light and electron microscopy. Participation in graduate
education programs is also expected.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of research
leadership and publication, the potential to obtain grant funding, an
interest in teaching, and the ability to engage and excel in a
collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment. This position
reports to Joe Gray, PhD.

The Knight Cancer Institute provides leadership and support for basic and
translational research to enable early detection of lethal cancer and
developing more durable and tolerable treatments of advanced cancers. Our
work is guided by the application of advanced measurement technologies
developed and deployed by the OHSU Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine
to increase our understanding of multi-scale molecular and cellular
assemblies that are functionally important in cancer genesis, progression
and therapeutic response.

OHSU offers access to multiscale light and cryo-electron microscopy
resources that include an in-house Titan Krios equipped with a Gatan energy
filter and two direct detectors (K3 and Falcon III), as well as advanced
computing and storage are available via OHSU university shared resources (
https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/research/research-cores/multi-scale-microscopy-core/).
Additional on-site CryoEM resources (including a 200kV Talos Artica and 3
Titan Krios instruments) are accessible through the OHSU-PNNL National
Center for Cryoelectron microscopy (by competitive application) (
https://pncc.labworks.org/).

The duties of this position include:

· Teaching and mentoring students

· Conducting research and publishing

· Obtaining grant funding

· Collaborate as interest dictates in the Knight Cancer Institute
Precision Oncology and Early Detection programs

· Contribute to the ongoing technical development of structural
imaging in collaboration with other investigators in the National Center
for Cryo-Electron Microscopy and the OCSSB

Position Conditions/Qualifications:

· Doctoral degree (M.D. or Ph.D.)

· Formal training in structural biology, biophysics, physical
chemistry or a closely related discipline

· Specific relevant expertise in one or more of the following areas:
protein structure analysis, mesoscale biology, structure based drug design,
imaging technology
