CRYO-EM FACILITY DIRECTOR

The National Institutes of Health is seeking an accomplished individual to manage and maintain a new state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy facility located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The primary responsibilities include ensuring high quality data is generated on an FEI Krios electron microscope with an energy filter and a Gatan K2 direct electron detector and secondary screening scopes, training users in sample preparations and imaging acquisition, and providing guidance in current image processing programs and pipelines.  Candidates should have expertise in cryo-electron microscopy methods and hands on experience running a Krios microscope with a direct electron detector.  Image processing expertise and an interest in technical development are preferable.  Multiple intramural institutes with considerable strength in structural biology will have shared access and oversight responsibility for this facility. Good technical, communication, and teaching skills are essential for this position and a PhD or equivalent experience is required.

This position will be filled at the NIH Staff Scientist level with a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
