Dear Colleagues,

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City, has recently established a Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center and now has an opening for an Electron Microscopy Manager. The facility will specialize in macromolecular structure determination of proteins and nucleic acids using single particle cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography. The facility includes an FEI Titan Krios microscope and a Gatan K2 Summit direct electron detector and is supported by a strong institutional commitment to advance cryo-EM at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Primary responsibilities for the position include maintaining the facility to ensure efficient operation of the resources, training new users in sample preparation, data acquisition and data processing, and supporting users in project development. Good communication skills, interest in technique development, and the ability to teach users from diverse backgrounds are essential.

Candidates should have extensive experience in the operation of transmission electron microscopes, preferably cryo-electron microscopes. A PhD is preferred, but is not essential for candidates with the appropriate background (e.g. EM facility maintenance). Opportunities for collaborative projects with investigators within the MSKCC community will be available.

The position offers a highly competitive salary, the possibility for subsidized housing, and outstanding benefits. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is located in a wonderful area of Manhattan, with restaurants, schools, and public parks directly adjacent to the center. Interactions with colleagues at the Weill-Cornell Medical College and the Rockefeller University, which are located across the street, as well as at the New York Structural Biology Center, create a rich and collegial scientific environment.

Enquiries regarding this position should be made to Dr. Richard Hite (hiter at mskcc.org<mailto:hiter at mskcc.org>).
