A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Daniel Southworth at the Life Sciences Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Research projects will be focused on the structure/function of molecular chaperone complexes using single particle cryo-EM approaches. Our state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility at Life Sciences Institute includes Technai F20 and Titan Krios microscopes equipped with K2 Summit DD cameras, as well as a T12 Spirit and Morgagni TEM and newly-installed, dedicated GPU and CPU compute clusters. The LSI is a distinguished, multi-disciplinary research enterprise at the University of Michigan that opened in 1999 with the mission to accelerate scientific discovery through collaborative research environments. Within the institute there are currently 23 faculty that span 14 departments as well as centers for Chemical Genomics, Structural Biology and the Discovery of New Medicines.

Candidates should hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or biophysics and have previous experience in cryo-EM, biochemistry or protein crystallography. Interested applicants should send their CV to Dr. Southworth (dsouth at umich.edu) and include contact information for 2-3 references.
