Cryomicroscopy Research Scientist

We are offering one 3-year research position in electron cryomicroscopy in the Rosenthal Laboratory
in NIMR’s Division of Physical Biochemistry.

NIMR is one of the founding institutes of the new Francis Crick Institute.
Opening in 2015 at St Pancras in central London, the Crick will have 1,250 researchers.
Its goal will be to understand the basic biology underlying human health. It is supported
by the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust, University College London,
Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The post-holder will work on experimental single particle cryomicroscopy of macromolecular complexes
and/or tomography with a focus on instrumentation, data acquisition, and automation. Excellent facilities
are available for cryomicroscopy and you will contribute to the management of the instruments and development
of new methods.

You should have a PhD, postdoctoral experience, and a strong record of research in electron microscopy.
Because there is an emphasis on instrumentation and methods development, you must have experience using
field emission gun microscopes, detectors, and additional associated hardware equipment and software.
You should have good communication skills.
