The positions are available immediately in the group of Dr. Friedrich
Förster. The laboratory is currently located at the Max Planck Institute of
Biochemistry (Martinsried, Germany) and will move to the Bijvoet Center at
Utrecht University (The Netherlands) in Summer 2016.

*Job description*: One candidate will focus on structural studies of
membrane-associated processes in their native settings by cryo-electron
tomography (cryo-ET) in conjunction with advanced image analysis (see also:
Pfeffer *et al*, *Nat. Comm*. 2015 6:8403, *Nat. Comm*. 2015 6:6019, *Nat.
Comm*. 2014 5:3072). The other position is available in development and
application of new computational methods for three-dimensional tomographic
reconstruction and statistical analysis to mine volumetric data (see also:

185:309-316, *J. Struct. Biol. *2013 182:235-245).

*Requirements: *The successful PhD candidate holds an excellent master
degree in (bio)chemistry, (bio)physics, mathematics, chemistry,
computational sciences, or a related field of science. Postdoctoral
candidates have an excellent PhD documenting profound skills either in
structural
biology and molecular biology or image processing and scientific
programming. Previous experience in electron cryo-microscopy and image
processing would be a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills in
English and great interest in cryo-electron microscopy are required.

*Application: *Please send your CV, two references and a brief statement
