Research Scientist, The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy

The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy (nramm.nysbc.org), based at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) seeks an experienced Research Scientist to join the Electron Microscopy Group (emg.nysbc.org). The NYSBC is a shared center that supports state-of-the-art research in Electron Microscopy, NMR, and X-ray crystallography. EM facilities include four transmission electron microscopes and a dual-beam scanning electron microscope, as well as a full suite of ancillary lab equipment to support these instruments. These instruments serve projects in electron tomography, single particle analysis, and cellular reconstruction of both stained and frozen-hydrated samples. NRAMM develops new technology focused on automating and streamlining all aspects of molecular electron microscopy and making this technology available to the national scientific community. The NRAMM Research Scientist will be the primary source of contact with the national user community using NRAMM technology. This will require helping to plan experiments, helping with data collection and analysis, on-site training of visitors, and careful reporting of progress and results. The individual in this position will frequently be a co-author on publications arising from the work performed at NRAMM. The ideal candidate will have postdoctoral experience in biological electron microscopy and image analysis, be capable of multitasking, enjoy working with other people, have an excellent working knowledge of electron microscopy and a strong research background. Good communication skills are essential. Qualified applicants should send a curriculum vitae and names of three references to bnc at nysbc.org. The position is currently open and applications will be reviewed continuously until the position is filled.

Computational Research Scientist, Electron Microscopy Group

The Electron Microscopy Group (emg.nysbc.org), based at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) seeks an experienced Computational Research Scientist to join our rapidly growing group. The NYSBC is a shared center that supports state-of-the-art research in Electron Microscopy, NMR, and X-ray crystallography. EM facilities include four transmission electron microscopes and a dual-beam scanning electron microscope, as well as a full suite of ancillary lab equipment, and computational resources to support these instruments. These instruments serve projects in electron tomography, single particle analysis, and cellular reconstruction of both stained and frozen-hydrated samples. Implementation of new technologies is an ongoing interest at NYSBC. We are seeking an individual with experience in developing new algorithms for image analysis, processing and reconstruction relevant to molecular and cellular electron microscopy. This will require in depth understanding of the related methods and techniques. The ideal candidate will have postdoctoral experience in developing and programming new algorithms for image analysis, be capable of multitasking, enjoy working with other people, have an excellent background ins several programming languages including python. Qualified applicants should send a curriculum vitae and names of three references to bnc at nysbc.org. The position is currently open and applications will be reviewed continuously until the position is filled.

Systems Administrator, Electron Microscopy Group

The Electron Microscopy Group (emg.nysbc.org), based at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) seeks an experienced Systems Administrator to join our rapidly growing group. We will shortly begin a rapid and major expansion of our computational resources. We are seeking an individual with experience in Systems Administration and particular with setting up and managing major computational resources including data storage, clusters and networking. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in administration of scientific computing environments have an excellent background in programming. Qualified applicants should send a curriculum vitae and names of three references to bnc at nysbc.org. The position is currently open and applications will be reviewed continuously until the position is filled.

Research Programmer, The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy

The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy (nramm.nysbc.org), based at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) seeks an experienced Research Programmer to join the Electron Microscopy Group (emg.nysbc.org). The NYSBC is a shared center that supports state-of-the-art research in Electron Microscopy, NMR, and X-ray crystallography.
