[3dem] scanner problems

Thanks to all that offered help, advice and solace. We got a local glass
company to cut us a new piece of standard float window glass for 12 euros.
Just checking the focus.

The Nikon coolscan 9000 was still the recommended alternative, with lots
of happy users.
