Dear colleagues,
I would be interested to hear from facilities or microscopy groups with
experience using *separate service contracts for a Thermo Fisher Titan
Krios and Gatan equipment*, particularly a *K3 camera and BioQuantum
energy filter*.
We currently have a Titan Krios 300 kV equipped with a Gatan K3 camera
and BioQuantum filter. Until now, the entire system has been covered
under a Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) maintenance contract. As our
maintenance contract is now up for renewal, we are exploring different
options including a split arrangement, with the Titan Krios covered
directly by TFS and the K3/BioQuantum covered directly by Gatan.
I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has experience with
this type of arrangement:
* What have been the main *advantages and disadvantages*compared with
having everything under a single TFS contract?
* Have you experienced problems with *responsibility or communication
at the interface between TFS and Gatan*, particularly when it is
unclear whether a problem is hardware, software, or an interface issue?
* Are there any *contractual details or service-level terms*that you
would strongly recommend including when setting up separate contracts?
* Have you encountered any unexpected problems with obtaining parts,
software/firmware support, or coordinating onsite visits between the
two companies?
We would be especially interested in hearing from facilities that have
been using a split TFS/Gatan arrangement for some time, including
experiences that have been negative as well as positive.
Many thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
Best regards,
Jason
