About the cryo-EM and cryo-ET facility at UT Austin:
The Sauer Structural Biology Laboratory<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://structuralbiology.cns.utexas.edu/*/__;Iw!!Mih3wA!C1oeiRyPF7qZLiO7ytFL3LSAXjHC9M-1k04FPKnqdY20bI5pOO49115yKIymtAy3XCOOLWAkUPuwVMz3LbIbbQ$ > currently hosts a Titan Krios equipped with Gatan K3 camera with energy filter, a Talos Glacios with Falcon 4 camera, a few lower-voltage TEM for negative staining, and multiple grid plunge freezing apparatus. The facility is a welcoming environment and is supported by extremely talented personnel.
The University is dedicated to expanding the cryo-EM and cryo-ET capacity. We recently purchased the following equipment and are expected to be installed this Spring and operational this Summer:
* An Aquilos 2 cryo-FIB/SEM, equipped with cryo-lift out and METEOR (Delmic) internal fluorescence microscope
* A STELLARIS 5 Cryo Confocal Light Microscope for cryo-CLEM imaging workflow
* A high-pressure freezer for thicker specimens
* A Leica GP2 for single-sided blotting of cellular materials and beyond
With the completion of the renovation, the facility will be operated at BSL2 level from sample preparation to cryo-imaging.

Successful postdoc applicants will hold a Ph.D. in a relevant area (e.g. virology, structural biology, biophysics) and have a strong track record of accomplishment in virology or structural biology.
