Hello Len,
I’ve personally not seen ethane used for plunge freezing expire. I’ve seen tanks older than at least five years working fine, but I’ve not done a survey before on this topic. As long as the tank holds pressure, I’d expect it to expel any potential external contamination. I suppose some internal lining or gaskest or something could start degrading into the pressurized volume, but I’ve not heard of such a thing for any kind of gas tank.
Sincerely,
Seth

We are investigating the structural and cellular mechanisms that govern
time control in development and developmental metabolism, and seeking
candidates who are familiar with electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM)
technologies, biochemical tools, and structural cell biology approaches.

Hello All,
Sort of oddish question but how long is a research grade Ethane cylinder good for? We have one that is probably at least 6 years old and I was wondering when I should worry about the quality of the ethane for plunge freezing. It really was not used much when it was first purchased but has been since we got a hold of it.
Thank in advance for any thoughts,
Len
