We are pleased to invite you to our December 2025 Stanford Electron Microscopy-X (EM-X) Symposium on December 8, 2025, Monday, 8-9:30am (PST). Please note that this is the second Monday in December, because of the preceding week’s proximity to the US Thanksgiving holiday.
Speakers:
Prof. David Eisenberg
Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry at UCLA, HHMI Investigator
Talk Title: CryoEM-based discovery of small molecules that disassemble stable pathological fibrils associated with the onset of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases
Bio: David Eisenberg is a UCLA structural and molecular biologist with ambitions to discover small-molecule therapies for neuodegenerative diseases, and to become a better saxophonist. His lab works on Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS.
Prof. Wu Zhou
Professor at the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS)
Talk Title: Vibrational EELS with Single-Atom Sensitivity: from isotope mapping to probing electron-phonon interactions
Bio: Wu Zhou is a Professor at the School of Physical Sciences and leads the Electron Microscopy Laboratory at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in Beijing, China. His research mainly focuses on the development of low-voltage single-atom electron microscopy techniques and the application of advanced electron microscopy to investigate materials functionalities at the atomic scale.
