Dear All,
At Microscopy & Imaging Center, of Texas A&M University (TAMU), on August 5th - 6th, 2025, we are conducting a "Computational Image Analysis Workshop”. We encourage imaging instrument users (TEM, SEM, EDS, EBSD, FIB, Dual Beam, Light Sheet, Fluorescence, Confocal Microscopes) to register for the event. We have excellent speakers from TAMU and outside, delivering lectures on computational image analysis, data storage and cloud computing using AI based methods.
This workshop is ideal for beginners - students as well as postdocs working on projects that demand computation image analysis. The registration for the workshop is free, and we have a very limited number of seats. Basic topics that we will cover (but not limited to):
Concept of digital imaging, Optical transfer functions (MTF, Fourier Transforms), image filtering, AI based image segmentation, 3D image reconstruction (SPA and cryo-ET methods), Cloud computing and managing image analysis using cellular devices.
Over the 2 days, attendees will have a combination of theory and hand-on training for image analysis. Sample datasets will be provided to the attendees for the hands-on sessions. Those who are interested to gain insight about employing computational image analysis to their own projects can contact us earlier. Use the QR code to register for the workshop. There will be a poster presentation session and an image competition by the attendees. On day 2, three student attendees will be selected for a short platform presentation of their work (10 mins each). In the event of anyone unable to attend the workshop after registration, it is requested that the individual should inform us of the status so that the position can be made open for other interested people. The schedule will be provided on a later date to those who successfully register for the workshop.
We have the following speakers:
Steve Ludtke (Author of EMAN) Baylor college of medicine
Gregory Servos Ovation Data
Steven Meck Gatan, Ametek
Stan Vitha TAMU
Holly Gibbs TAMU
And myself
Anindito (Andy) Sen TAMU
