Two postdoctoral positions for highly motivated individuals are
available immediately in the laboratories of David Stokes at the New
York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) and the Skirball Institute at New
York University. These NIH funded positions will focus on the structure
determination of membrane proteins using cryo-electron microscopy
(cryoEM) of existing two-dimensional crystals.
Microscopy will be carried out at the NYSBC, which hosts a 120 kV JEOL
1230, a 200kV FEG FEI Tecnai F20, a 200kV FEG JEOL 2100F and a 300kV FEG
JEOL 3200FSC electron microscopes, as well as specimen preparation and
data processing facilities. Additional equipment at NYU include Philips
CM200FEG and CM12 microscopes together with wet lab facilities.
Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in Biophysics, Structural Biology,
Computer Sciences or an appropriately related field with strong research
experience in electron microscopy and image processing. The candidates
must be able to think independently and work cooperatively with
biochemists assigned to the project. Applications will be reviewed as
