Dear colleagues,

for many years we buy the consumables (sapphire disks, carriers) for our highpressurefreezer Leica EM Ice from Wohlwend in switzerland.
But in the last month a user and we got a delivery of alltogether 600 sapphire disks of 3mm diameter and 50um thickness. But they are all bent. It is only visible under a good stereo microscope. The consequence is that during freezing a cell monolayer on the disks is being removed and the sandwiches fall apart as soon as we take them out of the freezer. We confirmed that an older stock of exactly the same wohlwend sapphire disks are flat and work fine for freezing.
We are in contact with Wohlwend about replacement/money back as we speak.

Just wondering if anybody of you recently purchased those sapphire disks from Wohlwend and what your experiences are?

cheers
Tobias
