I have an open position for a PhD student in my lab at Forschungszentrum Jülich, focused on the structural/functional investigation of membrane protein complexes in mitochondria.

The ideal candidate should have the following characteristics:
Master’s degree in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics or related fields
Strong interest and skills in relevant laboratory techniques in molecular and cell biology, biophysics and biochemistry, from the experimental design to the data analysis
Prior experience in structural biology is desired
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with team members
Fluent English (written and spoken) is required
The Ernst Ruska Centre (ER-C) at Forschungszentrum Jülich is one of the world-leading electron microscopy centres with more than 15 electron microscopes, including Talos 120, Talos Arctica (equipped with K3 detector and Bioquantum energy filter), Titan Krios G4 (equipped with K3 detector and BioContinuum energy filter, Falcon 4i detector and Panther detector), Aquilos 2 (equipped with METEOR system) and a local computing cluster.  Additionally, we have access to the Forschungszentrum supercomputing centre (JSC) and the lab is also fully equipped for all the necessary wet lab experiments, to ensure sample preparation and characterisation.
