Postdoc in Structural Biology of Membrane Transporters
at New York University School of Medicine

A postdoc position is available immediately in Da-Neng Wang’s lab at NYU School of Medicine, to study the structure and mechanism of membrane transporters. Projects available include human SLC transporters involved in cell metabolism, cancer and the immune system. We aim to understand their transport mechanisms by determining cryo-EM structures of the proteins’ complete reaction cycles. Supported by two dedicated and experienced biochemistry technicians, multiple stable, purified protein samples are available for immediate structural determination. Examples of recent research can be found in (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03230-x__;!!Mih3wA!EfIgZBlPi9n__EH2XC-TKHafUrAbIFpsIWEcRGyV8JC_eWYLMIiAPva_KHx2KsICLyrOCOcaosa6PpwDZYnB9ksNY-4znw$ , https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-30406-4__;!!Mih3wA!EfIgZBlPi9n__EH2XC-TKHafUrAbIFpsIWEcRGyV8JC_eWYLMIiAPva_KHx2KsICLyrOCOcaosa6PpwDZYnB9ktGLK52YA$ , https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.nature.com/articles/s41589-022-00994-9__;!!Mih3wA!EfIgZBlPi9n__EH2XC-TKHafUrAbIFpsIWEcRGyV8JC_eWYLMIiAPva_KHx2KsICLyrOCOcaosa6PpwDZYnB9ku9HvCtCQ$ ).

NYU School of Medicine offers state-of-the-art facilities including a Krios/K3/Falcon 3/Volta microscope, an Arctica/K3 microscope and a high-performance computing center. The cryo-EM core at NYU is directed by Dr. Bill Rice, a superb electron microscopist. Our lab has established close collaborations with several groups to accomplish time-resolved cryo-EM, Fab screen/synthesis, transport activity assays, small molecule synthesis, single molecule FRET and molecular dynamics simulations, providing a stimulating research and training environment. The campus is located in Manhattan, an exciting place to work and live. The starting salary is US$70,000. Candidates with a strong background in cryo-EM are desired. Please send CV, statement of research interest and names of three references to da-neng.wang at med.nyu.edu<mailto:da-neng.wang at med.nyu.edu>.
