[3dem] PASR Super Resolution CryoEM Workshop Announcement

Dear colleagues,


SRAMM/SEMC is hosting a single particle cryoEM super-resolution processing workshop for the NYC area led by Ray Burton-Smith (Asst. Prof. at ExCELLS, Japan) on Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 21. PASR allows for processing beyond Nyquist (ie. super-resolution) provided that the specimen has already reached Nyquist. Applicants must have prior Relion or Cryosparc experience and are encouraged to bring a dataset that is stuck at Nyquist. The workshop is in-person only and limited to participants from the NYC area. A maximum of 20 participants will be chosen. Registration closes on May 31. The workshop will follow a presentation of PASR from Ray – the title and abstract are below.

Abstract: The flexibility of cryo-EM is one of the great strengths of the technique for structural biologists; everything from tiny proteins and giant viruses to whole cells may be studied. However, as objects of interest increase in size, the magnification used to image them must decrease commensurately, which imposes limits on attainable resolution. We will introduce our rationale and method, called PASR (Post-Acquisition Super Resolution), and have the chance to work with an example dataset and participants’ data.
