Dear all,

We would like to estimate the number of Spotiton time-resolved cryoEM projects that require mixing of two samples from 100-500 ms. Spotiton is a unique, robotic grid preparation device able to dispense 2 samples independently that mix for 100-500 ms on a plunging nanowire-coated grid prior to vitrification, potentially enabling the capture of short-lived, structural intermediates. Currently, all grids are prepared at room temperature. See Dandey et al, 2020 (PMID: 32778833)<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7799389/__;!!Mih3wA!EmrMkgXKGroD3EH19M0KfjAc5bmmrYq79lHXihWvq8E6bCHjADP-XgRLTtgKejPusAbaFZF4w9soBfVKjw$ > and Budell et al, 2021 (PMID: 33720116)<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.jove.com/t/62271/cryo-electron-microscopic-grid-preparation-for-time-resolved-studies__;!!Mih3wA!EmrMkgXKGroD3EH19M0KfjAc5bmmrYq79lHXihWvq8E6bCHjADP-XgRLTtgKejPusAbaFZF4w9vd-hBQUw$ > for a description of the device and method.

Please contact sramm at nysbc.org<mailto:sramm at nysbc.org> if Spotiton could aid your research or if you have questions. Please include a short paragraph briefly stating the project, the protein mass, and timescales of interest. Please forward this email to any colleagues who may have applicable projects. Note that there are no geographical restrictions and Spotiton is limited to BSL-1 projects.

Alex Noble
