Dear all,

A postdoctoral position with up to 4 years of funding is available in the Baker Lab in the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford as part of the “MIGRATE” collaboration. MIGRATE aims to understand the molecular mechanisms behind neuronal migration during brain development, and is a collaboration between the Baker, Seiradake (Oxford), Del Toro (Barcelona), and Nägerl (Bordeaux) Labs.

The successful candidate will use cryoET to understand the cell surface behaviour of guidance receptors important for neuronal migration. This work will be aided by further development of the SPOTs tagging method developed in the Baker lab. Experience with any form of cryoEM sample preparation, data collection and processing is essential. Training will be provided for other methodologies as required, potentially including FIB milling, cryo-fluorescence microscopy and high pressure freezing. Training in the collaborators’ labs will also be available.

The Kavli Institute at the University of Oxford has excellent facilities for cryoEM, including a Titan Krios with Bioquantum K3, Talos Arctica with Falcon 4, and Crossbeam 350 with Leica cryostage for FIB milling. A Stellaris cryo-fluorescence microscope will be installed next year.
