On my side I remove totally the ring before bending a bit the legs and then put back the ring (using binocular)

I've managed with stiff tweezers, and two parts of decisiveness (good call Ruben). Do make sure to clear the table first.

Hi Bob, 

This is a common problem with our holder, but it is easily correctible with some pointed pliers to bend the wires that connect the clamping mechanism to the holder. All you need is some decisiveness, as these things can smell the fear and then the ring at the tip ends up flying and resting at the most inaccessible corner under the microscope (invariably).
