Dear all,

I would like to draw your attention to open postdoctoral researcher positions in my group. We use a diverse set of model systems to study how cell surfaces are engineered to support diverse physiological processes, including tissue homeostasis, cell wall formation, microbial encapsulation, and biofilm formation. Our work integrates molecular and glycobiology techniques with cryo electron microscopy and crystallography. These classical efforts are complemented with MINFLUX super-resolution nanoscopy and cryo electron tomography, providing insights into the cellular locations, assemblies, and dynamics of membrane-embedded polysaccharide secretion machineries. Representative publications can be found below.

Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology and/or structural biology techniques, be enthusiastic about working in a diverse, multidisciplinary research environment, and have at least one per-reviewed first author publication.

We are located in Charlottesville, Virginia, about 100 miles from Washington DC, 70 miles from Richmond, and just 25 miles to the Shenandoah National Park.

Interested candidates should contact me via email (jz3x at virginia.edu<mailto:jz3x at virginia.edu>) or apply directly via: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://hhmi.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/External/job/University-of-Virginia/Postdoctoral-Associate---Zimmer-Lab_R-1271__;!!Mih3wA!DvW3vL6-2D6tfS9KCLdAcg7hfBV-gl-eJTuCz42qHrNBJuFzs8NchfPMjIDxyHhvZWLt8WIwnhUTKtoUuRo$ .
