Postdoc position is limited to 36 months. The position is available from March 2023 onwards or later  depending on the candidate's availability.

Centrioles are among the largest macromolecular assemblies within a cell. These barrel-shaped molecular structures, made of nine microtubule triplets of 450 nm long, are at the center of fundamental cellular processes where they are subjected to external forces that they must resist. Recently, we identified a helical inner scaffold, a protein complex that covers 70% of the inner surface of the centriolar barrel, providing a structural basis for centriole integrity. However, the molecular structure and topology underlying its crucial function remains largely unknown due to the complexity of the centriole architecture. The project aims at providing an atomic structure of the inner scaffold using cutting-edge cryo-tomography. We expect results stemming from this work to provide a major advance in the understanding of the inner scaffold structure and consequently, of the mechanisms underlying centriole assembly and function.
