The Stokes laboratory at New York University School of Medicine in Manhattan
is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to carry out NIH-funded
structure/function studies of membrane transporter. Our projects include
potassium transport by the ATP-dependent pump KdpFABC and zinc transport by
members of the Cation Diffusion Facilitator family such as YiiP. For both
projects, we employ cryo-EM to capture different conformational states and
in vitro assays of transport and substrate binding to elucidate biophysical
bases for the transport process. More information available at

Relevant skills include site-directed mutagenesis, protein purification,
membrane reconstitution, biophysical analyses of function including smFRET,
and structure determination by cryo-EM. A Ph.D. degree and experience in
either membrane protein biophysics or cryo-EM are required. NYU offers a
competitive salary and excellent benefits; salary range will be $60,000 -
$80,000 per year depending on experience and the starting date is
negotiable. Candidates should send a curriculum vitae and names of 3
references to David Stokes at stokes at nyu.edu.
