Prof. Helen Saibil
Bernal Professor at Birkbeck College, University of London
Talk Title: Macromolecular Machines for Disassembling Protein Aggregates and Punching Holes in Membranes
Bio: Dr. Saibil is a professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, ISMB, Birkbeck College, University of London. She went on to work at CEA Grenoble and the University of Oxford. She has been at Birkbeck since 1989 and was elected to the Royal Society in 2006 and the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2009. Her research largely focuses on molecular chaperones and protein misfolding.

Prof. Joachim Mayer
Professor at RWTH Aachen University
Talk Title: Correlative Characterization of Renewable Energy Materials
Bio: Since 1999 Dr. Mayer joined RWTH Aachen University to become Professor and Head of the Central Facility for Electron Microscopy of RWTH Aachen.  In 2004, he received a co-appointment as one of the two directors of the Ernst Ruska-Centre at Research Centre Juelich
