[3dem] RELION-4.0 beta-release

Dear EM-ers,

We are pleased to announce that RELION-4.0 is now available for public
beta testing. A big thank you to all those who helped testing it.

RELION-4.0 comes with:
1) a completely new approach to subtomogram averaging
2) a new algorithm, called Variable-metric Gradient Descent with Adaptive
Moments (VDAM) for relion refine, which among other benefits results in
much faster and better 2D classifications
3) Automated 2D class selection
4) An improved framework, called Schemes, for automated execution of
workflows, e.g. for on-the-fly processing.
5) Enhanced integration with the new pipeliner approach that is being
developed for the CCPEM software suite

PS: Two publications on RELION-4.0 are pending: one on its new subtomogram
averaging approaches; another one on the improvements for single-particle
analysis. We will post them on bioRxiv once they are ready.
