[3dem] remote microscopy question

Hi David, Reinhard and Zongli,


AnyDesk is an alternative solution to TV.

It use it free of charge (until when ?).

It is developped by people formerly working at TV.

Previously, I was also using TV. Imho, I see no difference between AnyDesk and TV.


I use it on WinXP, Win7 and Win10 machines.

I primarily use AnyDesk because it is free, but also because I can use it on a WinXP machine.

Hi David und Zongli and others,

just to confirm that Teamviewer has been stable here under win7 and is  stable under win10 since 'long'. We operate two microscopes remote using TV. Yes, with a TV licence . No problems at all.

Hi David,

We have been using teamviewer to remote to both the support PC and Gatan PC that runs Gatan GMS and serialEM. The connection is smooth without any issue, as long as you have licence for using teamviewer. Of course our PCs keep the original windows version. But I bet the teamviewer should work with Windows 10.

On after our upgrade to Windows 10, the connection is totally unstable.  I can make sure that it is working (by physically sitting at the Artica PC's keyboard and monitor, resetting some things and doing a test of the remote connection), only to discover later that the connection can no longer be made.  In my case, "later" can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours to the next day.  In no case has the connection survived 24 hours since we did the upgrade
