  Dear colleagues,
 Two cryo-EM Research Scientist Positions in Kobilka cryo-EM center at
Chinese University of Hongkong(shenzhen) are available.

The Kobilka Cryo-EM center is a state-of-the-art shared facility operated
by the KIIDD at Chinese University of Hongkong(Shenzhen). The center owns
two Titan KriosG3i both equipped with GIF-K3 camera, and VPP phase plate
and 1 Talos 120C. The Cryo-EM staff members develop and provide their
knowledge and expertise to the research community at KIIDD in applying
cryo-EM imaging to their research. They work closely with investigators to
define optimal experimental design including strategies for preparation of
samples, maintain and operate cryo-electron microscopes and ancillary
equipment in order to provide high resolution images, and provide guidance
and service in data management and analysis.

The successful candidates will assist facility staff with maintenance and
operation of the advanced instrumentation housed in the Cryo-EM core and
will work with and train users in specimen preparation. The candidate will
also be responsible for record keeping associated with users, instrument
logs, and routine operation of the facility. The candidate will be expected
to learn new procedures as they are developed and implemented by the
facility.

*Duties and Responsibilities:*

*Scientific and Operational*

   - Responsible for operation of cryo-electron microscopes

◦    Load samples and align microscopes prior to data collection

◦    Work with users to identify suitable samples for imaging and to set up
automated data collection

   - Responsible for operation of ancillary equipment for sample preparation

◦    Assist users with cryo-EM related equipment such as Vitrobot, glow
discharger etc.

◦    Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation of these
instruments

◦    Maintain supplies for sample preparation

   - Responsible for record keeping

◦    Maintain accurate logs for microscope performance, usage and service

◦    Maintain accurate records for user projects and interactions

◦    Maintain records for ordering and inventory of supplies

◦    Maintain records for usage of various ancillary instruments in the
cryo-EM facility

◦    Maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures as developed
by the facility

*Communications/ Relationships with others*

Provides guidance, cooperates, communicates and relates well to all levels
of KIIDD Staff and external users

   - Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answer
   questions or obtain needed information
   - Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely
   and effective manner.
   - Maintains confidentiality of all research information.
   - Develop and maintain a high level of customer service.
   - Monitoring and continually seeking to improve the performance of
   facility
   - Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with
   scientific literature and scientific networking
   - Maintains excellent and professional-level communication skills in
   oral and written English.

*Preferred Qualifications*:

   - PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or related field
   - Experience in cryo-EM including handling samples, using microscopes
   and evaluation of images
   - Knowledge of the principles of transmission electron microscopy and 3D
   structure determination
   - General understanding of cryo-EM workflow
   - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
   - Ability to multitask and learn complex new procedures
   - Excellent organizational skills and record keeping
   - Special consideration will be given to candidates with a record of
   achievement in collaborative, team-driven environments
