[3dem] Group leader/lectureship position in CryoEM- Sheffield University

We have an opening for an electron microscopist at faculty level at Sheffield University.

We have been growing the scale and ambition of our biological and biomedical research activities with a multi-million pound investment in a strategic, flagship project, establishing Sheffield as a centre for imaging. Through the Imagine:imaging life initiative we have been applying state of the art microscopy technologies to advance our understanding of biological systems from individual molecules to whole tissues. 

We are recruiting a talented, experienced individual to enhance and expand our established team, specifically in the area of biological cryoEM. We are looking for expertise in cryoEM of single particles or cryotomography at the cellular and molecular levels- prokaryotic or eukaryotic. 

The appointment will be at Lectureship level. 

The University has  invested generously in new instrumentation, refurbishment and computing. We have a 200kV FEI Arctica with Falcon III direct electron detector and phase plate, a cluster of GPU and CPU machines, high pressure freezing, Cryo-CLEM instrumentation, standard 100 kV TEMs and a scanning EM. For suitable projects, we have block access to higher end instrumentation at the UK-wide EM facility at the Diamond Light Source.

We can offer a very vibrant intellectual and collaborative environment in Sheffield. The quality of life in Sheffield is outstanding, with very easy access to the Peak District National Park and easy connections to London and other major cities.
