Hi David,
The HPF pucks have a perforated lid so you can store HPF planchettes and pin stubs for cryo sectioning directly in the puck. The std puck has a large open hole in the lid, which would allow planchettes etc to fall out. The puck was redesigned to allow it to be used with conventional cryo TEM grid boxes or HPF planchettes. There is also a “slot” to allow tweezers to recover stored items.
I have both styles on site. However, would now order the HPF style as it’s more versatile.
For info, I use Leica freeze sub containers inside the HPF puck. You need to shorten them a little. But they then allow you to recover multiple HPF planchettes at the same time.
Best

Subject: [3dem] SubAngstrom pucks
Hi,
Can anyone tell me the difference between SubAngstrom's grid storage pucks and their high pressure freezing pucks? All the pictures on the website appear to be identical, but I'm sure there is some difference. I'm also interested in the HPF equivalent of grid boxes since presumable HPF pucks expect some sort of footprint for what is being stored.
