[3dem] manual pluger

Dear colleagues,

We have a very old cryo-plunger that some parts got lost over the time.
Fortunately the main parts are still working. Does any one have this unit
by chance or know how it works? I am puzzled by a loose part (see the red
cycle in attached picture) and don't know where it should be and what role
it would play in the unit. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
