Dear colleagues,

We are seeking an excellent and highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to lead a project combining correlative light/electron microscopy, advanced cryo-focused ion beam specimen preparations, cryo-electron tomography and 3D processing/subtomogram averaging.

The position is funded through an ERC starting grant in the area of cellular organization through phase separation and molecular crowding. Expected starting date: June 1st, 2019 or earlier.

Our cryo-EM platform has 2 Titan Krioses, both equipped with an energy filter, K2 direct detector and a phase plate, an Aquilos FIB/SEM microscope and a cryo-correlative confocal light microscope. In addition, EMBL shared facilities include among others an advanced light microscopy facility which houses numerous high-end light microscopes, and an electron microscopy facility for standard EM preparations.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and must demonstrate the ability to develop a creative research program for cellular structural biology. The applicant must demonstrate interest in methods development. The ideal candidate would have prior cryo-EM/ET experience and a strong background in cellular or molecular structural biology and 3D image processing.

Applicants should provide a CV, a motivation letter including a brief description of current research activities and potential starting date, and contact information of 3 references in the following link:

Application deadline February 10th, 2019.

Cheers, Julia
