This is a reposting for a Cryo-EM Facility Manager Position at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Structural Biology Imaging Center at UTHealth at Houston seeks for a full-time Cryo-EM Facility Manager. The facility is housed at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, and  includes a new Titan Krios G3 (300 kV FEG; BioQuantum with K2 Summit direct detector; VoltaPhase Plate; Ceta CMOS camera, 12-position cryo-sample autoloader) and a Technai Polara G2 (300 kV) with a K2 Summit Direct Electron Detector, and dedicated GPU+CPU workstations for frame alignment, initial processing and temporary storage.
The Facility Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of cryo-EM facility and user training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  *   General maintenance of cryo-microscopes, including their alignment
  *   Liaise with manufacturer (Thermo) with regard to instrument preventative maintenance
  *   Maintain ancillary, cryo-EM sample preparation equipment such as Vitrobot, glow discharger etc.
  *   Provide practical training and day-to-day supervision of cryoEM users
  *   Will be directly involved in data collection
  *   Maintain records of equipment usage and report maintenance issues of equipment;
  *   Ensure Facility is in compliance with EH&S
Qualified candidates should have PhD (or MS) in structural biology, biochemistry or related field, at least two years experience in cryo-EM, including specimen preparation. Experience in image processing would be an advantage. Effective communication skills are necessary.
The position is supported through the Structural Biology Imaging Center at UTHealth.   Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience and training. While the position is available immediately, the start date is flexible. The search will remain open until filled.
