The Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C) at the Forschungszentrum Jülich houses some of the world’s most advanced electron microscopes and tools for nanocharacterisation. The
scientific research topics range from condensed matter physics to cryo-EM on biomacromolecules as well as future developments of electron microscopy. The ER-C
currently has a total of 13 electron microscopes including the PICO FEI Titan with a point resolution of 0.5 Å and several state-of-the-art cryo-microscopes such as an FEI
Talos Arctica including Bioquantum K3 and an FEI Talos 120. In addition, we have access to cryo-FIB/SEM instrumentation and a cryo-confocal light microscope
enabling us to use a cryo-CLEM workflow to study sub-cellular structures using cryo-tomography. Upon launch of the ERC2.0 project, unique world-wide leading equipment including sample preparation and high-end electron microscopes will be installed in the near future.
