Dear colleagues,

We are looking for an image processing expert to join our cryo-EM team at
Genentech, where we are supporting drug discovery by solving structures of
targets not amenable to X-ray crystallography.

Current image processing workflows are not yet automated enough to yield
the best possible resolution from each and every dataset. Instead, expert
input is needed to squeeze the best results out of each experiment. In
addition, the very vibrant image processing field is collectively inventing
new ways and tools to process data on a regular basis and we aim to operate
at its cutting edge (and push the envelope ourselves) to best serve our
drug discovery pipeline and, ultimately, patients. In order to meet these
needs for all our projects, we want to grow our image processing capacity.

If you are passionate about single-particle image processing, have deep
expertise in at least one software package and experience in getting to
high resolution, and if would like to experience from the inside the impact
cryo-EM is having on drug discovery, please get in touch!

Some experience with innovative scripting or programming would be a plus
and, given the right profile, a significant part of the role could include
methodological developments.

We are looking to recruit either a contractor or (if pre-PhD-award) an
intern, for a period of 6 to 12 months in 2019. Start and end dates would
be flexible. This could be ideal for a recent PhD graduate looking to
experience a new environment before settling on a postdoc, but we will
consider candidates at any stage of their career.

Our facility is equipped with a Krios/GIF/K2, a Talos 200C/K2, and all the
usual ancillary equipment. We benefit from excellent IT infrastructure
including unrestricted access to a large compute cluster.

We offer a stimulating and collaborative environment, as well as a very
competitive salary for this position.

Please contact Alexis Rohou (rohou.alexis at gene.com) for informal inquiries
or to apply (by sending a CV and and description of your experience and
interests).

Cheers,
Alexis
