     Cryo-Em Faculty Position at Penn State : University Park, PA, United States

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology within the Eberly College of Science (http://science.psu.edu/) and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (http://huck.psu.edu/) at The Pennsylvania State University seek applicants working at the forefront of cryo-EM enabled structural biology and cell biology for a tenure-track assistant professor appointment in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (http://bmb.psu.edu). We seek candidates using single-particle cryo-EM or cryo-electron tomography to investigate fundamental issues in structural biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and/or microbiology.

The Penn State cryo-EM facility, equipped with a Titan Krios (Falcon 3EC and Gatan K2 detectors, Cs correction, Quantum GIF and phase plate) and dedicated computation and storage resources, are new additions to a vibrant interdisciplinary imaging facility housed within the Millennium Science Complex comprising the Huck Microscopy core and the Materials Characterization Lab. These facilities have extensive state-of-the-art imaging instrumentation including TEM, SEM, FIB to Tof-SIMS, AFM, Raman and SIM/STORM and over 20 full time interdisciplinary research staff serving researchers across the university.

Eligibility and Appointment
The applicant should have a Ph.D. in structural biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or a related field. The successful applicant is expected to teach and perform research in a collaborative environment, with the opportunity to join one of the Centers in the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and to supervise students from interdisciplinary graduate programs. This position features outstanding research space and a competitive start-up package.
