At the *Heidelberg University Biochemistry Center (BZH)*the following 
position will be available from April 2018:


*Full Professorship (W3) in Biochemistry / Molecular Cell Biology*

*(Successor of Prof. Wieland)*


The successful applicant will represent the area of Biochemistry / 
Molecular Cell Biology and should pursue a fundamental biological 
question that contributes to or complements current research areas at 
the BZH (http://www.bzh.uni-heidelberg.de/) and can be integrated into 
existing or future research consortia. Research at the BZH includes the 
analysis / characterization of molecular machines, in particular their 
macromolecular biogenesis, structure and function. Major topics are 
dynamic intracellular transport processes, protein homeostasis, the 
assembly of RNA-protein complexes such as the ribosome, specific roles 
of lipids and lipid-protein interactions in biological membranes, and 
molecular switches. Candidates with expertise in cryo-electron 
microscopy are particularly encouraged to send an application as further 
development of cryo-EM based research is planned at the BZH. The 
candidate should be qualified and prepared to engage in teaching 
biochemistry/ cell biology to students of the Medical Faculty. Teaching 
language is German.

Prerequisites for the application are a Ph.D., M.D. or corresponding 
degree, a “Habilitation” or equivalent scientific qualification, more 
than one year experience in leading a research group, and a track record 
in securing third-party funding. Please refer to further requirements 
according to § 47 and § 48(2) State Laws for Higher Education (LHG) of 
Baden-Wuerttemberg.
